He works with the British Cycling Talent Team which is the first Squad on the Olympic Development Pathway. We are delighted to host Rob’s sessions as they represent the first access a young rider can have to the Olympic Development Programme influence.

Rob Sharman, winner 2005 Premier Calendar Road Racing Championship, is now a British Cycling Talent Development Coach.
With our first season-long race series kicking off next week, Rob has kindly offered to come to Norwich, support the NCA and deliver two sessions to help your development. Here is Rob’s description of his workshop presentation:
“If you want to be the best you can be on a bike then this workshop is for you! The aims are to highlight the simple approach we advocate regarding training & racing and the reasons why this has to be taken, enabling the foundations are laid for the bike racers to build from.
This workshop is not talking about sports science or prescribed training it is a Workshop that explains the racing pathway, how to use it best to your advantage and what the basic principles &priorities are when training so in turn you can make the best use of the racing pathway, it provides a really sound understanding to develop a deeper understanding of training & racing from.”
In the first half of the workshop (March 7th) Rob will talk about the sort of races available to Youth riders, and talk primarily about youth riders (U10s, U12s, U14s, U16s and Juniors but this also has high relevance to all ages. Rob will share information and help EVERYONE understand why and how they should strive to engage with National Level races if they want to be the best they can be.
The 2nd half of the workshop (March 21st) is focussed on training volumes, intensities and the very simple approach that we can take to help us become better and more effective riders. Rob will share the ‘secrets’ of the Talent Team diaries and explain the importance of HARD WORK!!! This will lay the foundations for individuals to become capable of successfully planning effective training plans for themselves.
The information in this workshop is for Riders, parents & Coaches EQUALLY – there is something here for everyone, although it is aimed primarily at U10s, U12s, U14s, U16s and Juniors. Rob believes firmly that the training principles he shares in the 2nd half of the workshop apply to any age of bike racer – so don’t miss out!!!
