Norfolk Cycling Academy

norfolk cycling academy - juniors ready to compete

Quality coaching, riding & racing specifically for new and developing riders

Come and meet (left to right) Kev, Neil and Russell

Pedal Revolution have teamed up with cycling experts ActivatingCIC, Norfolk County Council and Sport England to create the Norfolk Cycling Academy (NCA) to provide much needed venues, events and resources for Norfolk’s leisure and sports cyclists.

We have a brilliant new traffic-free cycle coaching, training and racing venue and we have a fleet of road bikes to help you get started. We hold Sunday sessions every fortnight (See the events calendar for dates).

Friday night is bike night with ActivatingCIC’s legendary Sufferfest group turbo training night at the amazing new 21st century facilities of City Academy. If you want a great winter training workout, loose a bit of weight or just feel amazing after an hour’s hard work then come and see us!

We ask every rider, after their first few events, to join the academy as it allows us to provide insurance and keep the club and fleet of road bikes running. Your membership offers you a generous discount at Pedal Revolution on bikes, clothing and accessories – just bring your membership card into the shop. If you belong to a club already your membership with us is just a 2nd claim membership and we want you to keep racing and riding for your local club.

On a bright and breezy Thursday afternoon, around 70 young riders had the chance of lifetime to race on the Tour Series Circuit at Aylsham. The Norfolk Cycling Academy put a series of championship races and with the Tour Series commentator whipping the crowd into excitement the youngesters were given an afternoon to remember before they watched the professional women and men take to same circuit.

Ever wondered what it might be like to ride with a Tour de France yellow jersey holder? Ever wanted to ride and chat about the real story behind how Team Sky won the Tour de France, what it was like being a team mate of Lance Armstrong or do you fancy your chances sprinting for the next village sign????!!!
Well, the Tour de Broads on Sunday 8th September is your chance. There are ride distances for all ages and abilities including families. Spring League Closes with some Fantastic Racing.

It was a storming finish to the Spring Racing League sponsored by Aquaterra and the Parson Woodforde Resturant.

Most of the championships had significant changes at the top of their leader boards after today’s racing – showing that the racing is producing some exciting and close finishes. We revised the circuit today and the racing was much faster and flowing and the introduction of the highly technical “Parkins” hairpin certainly tested the fitness of the racers. Thanks as ever go to our volunteer helpers especially Lesley Etheridge who is happy smiling face you all meet at signing on – Lesley you are the star of the show!!!!

Congratulations to our 8 champions and 24 podium finishers who each received their Aquaterra Trophies and gift vouchers for the Parson Woodforde Resturant in recognition of their success.

NCA Tour Series racing!

The biggest UK professional racing series in the UK is the Tour Series. These are evening races on tight twisty circuits just like our Airport circuit. They are all city and town centre based and all the races are televised on ITV4. This year, Alysham – through our friends at Broadland Council – have been awarded a race on Thursday 13th June. The NCA will be out in force with a wide range of cycling attractions all afternoon and evening.
>>>>>>>The BIG NEWS is that we have persuaded the organisers to allow us to hold NCA races in the afternoon on the Pro-Circuit and we have the use of the podium and commentator!! Kev, Russell and I would love to hold some youth, female-only and adults racing. The youth races (all categories) will now be the British Schools Cycling Association regional championships (originally scheduled for 12th May). Riders  will ride under their school name and hottly contest the converted titles for boys and girls in each age category. IF YOU WISH TO TAKE PART, PLEASE EMAIL info@activatingcic.co.uk WITH YOUR SCHOOL CONTACT DETAILS AND WE WILL INVITE YOUR SCHOOL TO ENTER A TEAM (OR JUST YOU!). The races will be 2pm-4pm on the Thursday, hence the need for us to invite your school. <<<<<
